How we research. Sources first, then words.

In shortEvery figure we publish has a source and a date. Articles are drafted with AI tools from those sources, checked automatically for unsourced numbers and broken links, then reviewed and approved by a person before they go live.

Where our numbers come from

We use primary sources wherever we can: company results and shareholder letters, filings with regulators such as the US Securities and Exchange Commission, annual reports, and official guidance from regulators such as Ofcom. When there is no primary source we use established trade press and say so.

Our rules

  • Every figure carries a numbered link to its source, with the period it covers.
  • If sources disagree, we show both.
  • If we cannot find a reliable source, we leave the claim out.
  • Our own calculations show their method.
  • We never quote unconfirmed figures about Dating API itself.
  • We write about competitors factually and never mock an app or its members.

How we use AI

Our research team uses Claude, an AI model, to gather sources and draft articles to our style guide. Each draft is checked by software for unsourced figures, broken links, banned phrases and overlap with existing pages. A person then reviews the draft, the claims and the sources, and decides whether it is published. Nothing goes live automatically.

Updates and corrections

Data articles are re-checked against current sources regularly, and the "Updated" date shows when. If you spot an error, tell us and we will fix it and note the change.
